The sub r/knotty, pretends to only be for dog sex toys but an anti predator group tracked the person that runs it to a bunch of bestially sites and it said in their various bios that’s what the site was for and to contact them with “business enquiries”

I used to be a freenet user and oh boy. but most blamed the decentralization rather than the people themselves.
in all though I think admin might actually be betting on those communities because there is a strong demand and a steady supply, good stuff for reddit’s sustenance, and if kept far enough away for good plausible deniability, they’d prolly like to keep it that way.
