On the style, if I said, “It’s important to remember” and followed that by my personal subjective opinion, I guarantee that you would object to that.
On the substance, you understand correctly. Your position is that a literal majority of the population can be “hateful”. I’m familiar with this radical idea and I disagree with it. Hate is a powerful word for an exceptional phenomenon. If vast numbers of people believe, say, that uncontrolled immigration is a problem, or that some societal norm (choose your hotbutton subject) is moving too fast, then we need to find a way to talk to them without branding them “hateful”. The large majority of humans are not hateful, by definition. As I said, we can agree to disagree.
