How it affected me, not sure. I don’t hate gay trans folks but don’t identify with those communities. I’m somewhere on the bi spectrum but mostly straight, if my wife were adventurous Id fuck with bi and trans folks. I have zero interest in learning pronouns beyond they, I understand why a good natured parent would have concerns about a trans kid playing sports even if it’s not a probable thing that’s being used to discriminate. I don’t think even most Gen z ers really fully comprehend how much progress there has been in the last 2- decades and why there is such a visceral reaction to change. I’m not saying it’s okay but I think many expect too much from even progressives on sexual issues.
