At a previous employer I was required to deploy software to all devices and have it implemented in the build image. As soon as I started working on it I knew instantly that it could be used for tracking what users are doing. The customer said it was purely for tech support purposes.

As soon as it was deployed out to the estate there was one customer I knew in the IT department that was so incredibly toxic, and they were quick to request admin permissions. This person used to sit and watch people’s statuses on Skype, and if they were away for x amount of time they would raise a complaint. Thankfully the customer’s upper management knew what this person was like and outright rejected it.

I hate to think that there are people like that, who are in much higher positions, who will use this kind of software maliciously to get rid of people they don’t like.
