I’m also on Connect. In what ways do you feel it is inferior to sync?

I’ll be honest I was a RiF user and have never heard of sync until recently, but it seems just like any other app for Lemmy. Nothing special about it.

I 100% don’t mind paid apps, but I’m only willing to pay for unique features that are useful to me. There’s nothing missing from FOSS apps that only exists on Sync imho.

For me, Connect sometimes just lags while scrolling comments. Posts are fine but comments get messed up, doesn’t happen on Sync. Also Sync just feels more polished and more intuitive

I’ve been a Linux nerd all of my life and admire most FOSS projects, but seriously… FOSS nerds need to learn about the power of a good interface and UX. I’m a full-stack developer and there’s no amount of elbow grease and backend wizardry that can beat a shitty skeleton with slick UI.

Completely agree. There’s just more devs in Linux/FOSS environment than UI designers. Certainly more of them willing to donate their time.

Mostly it is just that navigating feels much smoother. On the other apps it feels a bit clunky to navigate. Of course I should have prefaced this by saying your mileage may vary, but it isn’t really about the features. In fact, if I’m being completely honest Sync is missing some of the features that the FOSS apps have.
