I believe in California they banned single use plastic bags. But then corporations just made slightly thicker plastic bags and claim you can reuse it… gotta love amuruca
I moved to Seattle right after they implemented a bag ban, and it was noticeable coming from a state without a ban - where they were everywhere, in trees and ditches - to not seeing them at all. Plus the nice-ass paper bags at QFC were very reusable. Back in the midwest no one has paper bags like that, and if you even ask for them they’ll stare at you blankly in many stores.
Yeah, it’s shitty, they are worse for the environment. Usage may be slightly lower because you have to pay for them, but I feel like a higher volume of plastic is used due to the thicker material.
