Shipwrecked and abandoned in an unknown land. Build, expand, and even influence a medieval world where every decision shapes your rise. Establish yourself, repel threats, and guide your people's progress and destiny from above and on the ground in this relaxing single-player city builder.
I’d love to be proven wrong, but what does it add to the gameplay being able to see the 3D models close up?
Is it even fun once? Do you have to do it? It feels like the classic over extension where you add something just because why not or even worse, because the game itself lacks.
If the game has sufficient enough creative freedom to artistically design your town in a unique way, then I really find the aspect of going first person and walking around in games like this very very fun. Especially if there is added gameplay to it. Like in zoo tycoon 2 you could clean up the animal exhibits and refill their food and water and brush the animals and stuff in first person. It was a lot of fun. Now in planet zoo there isn’t gameplay elements to going first person, but at the very least it’s still a lot of fun since the majority of the game is so creativity focused. It really makes you look at your Park from a New perspective and really design it from every angle.
If every town is going to look exactly the same and do the same thing though with not enough creative input from the player and how roads are laid down or designed then I don’t think that’s going to add much
Indeed. One idea for Tavern Master would be to play as the host (you can organise parties for royalty, knights, explorers etc in the game) in first person mode to accomplish semi-optional progression tasks and gain unlocks.
Instead, it’s just a first person view. Nice to check out when you have a new tavern design, but that’s about it.
Slightly different gameplay but I do still want to play Transport Fever 2 sometimes, even though I’ve played Transport Tycoon/OpenTTD for decades at this point.
I could see good attention to detail being a draw.
Do you have to do it?
I would hope not, that would definitely be a deal-breaker for me.

I think it’s an attempt to create a differentiating feature.
In other games with this feature (e.g. Tavern Master), I used it a couple of times just to check out my Tavern in first person, but that’s about it.
Now if there were additional gameplay element built around that, it would be a different story.
Not only additional gameplay, but in the actual gameplay. Otherwise it’d just be another game(-play). I think we agree here.
