I feel like food truck person who owns their truck and works it for a living is still working class.
Working class doesn’t mean you have a boss and don’t have a share of ownership in your work. If it did then everyone working at a coop would be petit bourgeois.
I think if you’re on the rooftops with a rifle shooting at protesters when the feds invade to stop people being mad about being murdered, your class has a lot of redemption to do before the poor consider you a comrade. What work have you done to that end, Mr. Shop owner? How have you helped the revolution?
Who said I owned a business? That sure isn’t my cup of tea even if I could afford it. I just know people who do. Some are pretty well off, others not. One of them went out of business this year. They had been scraping by for years and the downturn since Trump made them unprofitable so they saw no need to continue.
What have I done? Voted. Sent messages to my representatives. I’m not against more direct/aggressive action, but I don’t think that’s me. I’ve never been that way.
There’s an argument to be made that participation in the electoral system does have a social cost. I guess my preference depends on how/where you participate, and that’s really not the part I care about.
“Alienate possible allies because they’ve got a little too much money.”
Dude we’re fighting billionaires, small business owners are more likely to side with us than the people whose goal it is to put them out of business and own everything. You just have to actually engage with them and listen to their concerns.
Which is crazy if you think about it. Probably the same reason blue collar workers in the US like to defend the rich - we are all just billionaires in waiting.
What should we personally aspire to? Am I not to have a way to turn my hobby into a way to sell something? Just fuck those of us who want to make a little side money. Can’t have shit with anarchists man.
Gatekeepers come online because they’ve been pushed out of physical spaces for their own BS. This person has cast out all modern context and is more worried about the words written in a book/pamphlet 150 years ago than the modern ideology anarchism has evolved into.
The best part about anarchism is you can ignore tankie adjacent book thumpers and party with the cool kids who want autonomy and solidarity for everyone. Block and move on with life.
Yes. Fuck any and everyone who wishes to use their private ownership to exploit others for profit and self enrichment. All profit is theft. Money needs to be abolished as economic system. It is inherently oppressive.
Why do you need to make money? Can you not simply enjoy your hobby? Why must you exploit another for profit? Are you that greedy and selfish?
What you should aspire to? Being a good person who has their needs fulfilled and uses their skills to help those around them also have fulfilling lives. What more do you need?
“all profit is theft” if i buy lumber, work it into furniture, and sell the furniture for more than the cost of lumber then im a thief? youre fucking dumb
Just because you’re not a fan or can’t imagine it because of the bullshit stories about how money was invented you got fed during ideology classes doesn’t mean it won’t happen.
We has robust centralized tates building wonders and collecting taxes many centuries before we had money. Money comes from hostile transient populations doing war. It is cousin and fig leaf to pillage; it is a fundamentally military technology, as much as the cannon the MRAP and the air dropped mobile burger king-maybe a little more than the cannon. It is not necessary for and may be inimical to peaceful prosperous society.
If they own a shop, they aren’t fucking poor. Don’t simp for the petite bourgeois.
Tell me you know nothing about business without telling me you know nothing about business.
‘Poor’ does not mean ‘cannot afford to buy as big a house as I’d like’.
It doesn’t, but he’s equating any business owner as being part of the bourgeoisie. And that’s also false.
And there’s at least one billionaire who never showered¹ and died of preventable disease. As a class they still aren’t workers.
¹unfortunately becoming the norm.
I feel like food truck person who owns their truck and works it for a living is still working class.

I don’t give two shits about business. I’m a worker, not an owner.
Tell me you know nothing about class struggle without telling me you know nothing about class struggle.
Tell me you know nothing about how solidarity is fundamental to successful class struggle
You have solidarity with those of your own class, not with your oppressors.
And you being vitriolic toward other people on Lemmy is not showing solidarity with those of your own class
Because the mom & pop shops are in the same class as the billionaire walmarts?
Compared to the riches people in the US, a destitute person and a millionaire have approximately the same amount of wealth
Are those goalposts heavy?

So nothing. That’s fine, but please don’t pretend you’ve seen poverty.
I never said I did. I can also do less, if you’d prefer.
There’s an argument to be made that participation in the electoral system does have a social cost. I guess my preference depends on how/where you participate, and that’s really not the part I care about.
Its the armchairing.
Thanks for again telling me you don’t know anything about class struggle without telling me you don’t know.
“Alienate possible allies because they’ve got a little too much money.”
Dude we’re fighting billionaires, small business owners are more likely to side with us than the people whose goal it is to put them out of business and own everything. You just have to actually engage with them and listen to their concerns.
They don’t understand that when compared to a multi Billionaire, a millionaire and a destitute person have approximately the same amount of money.
The millionaire is usually gonna side with the billionaire, though.
Which is crazy if you think about it. Probably the same reason blue collar workers in the US like to defend the rich - we are all just billionaires in waiting.
Small business owners are the traditional base of fascism.
If they want to turn that’s great, but I’m not going down on them in hopes they do.
We are fighting the owning class and their system of capitalist oppression. Not just billionaires.
The concerns of the owning class are diametrically oppositional to mine as a worker.
What should we personally aspire to? Am I not to have a way to turn my hobby into a way to sell something? Just fuck those of us who want to make a little side money. Can’t have shit with anarchists man.

You’re in a sub called “Lefty Memes” but get your jimmies rustled from seeing actual leftist rhetoric?
Maybe look up the words “delusional” and “extremist.”
If you think my position is “delusional and extremist” then you arent fucking left wing.
“all profit is theft” if i buy lumber, work it into furniture, and sell the furniture for more than the cost of lumber then im a thief? youre fucking dumb
The guy is a troll. Even stole my comment format.
Tell me you have never read theory without telling me you’ve never read theory.
Nobody has
Not in this sub apparently
Money isn’t going to be abolished. Your aspirations are not realistic
Just because you’re not a fan or can’t imagine it because of the bullshit stories about how money was invented you got fed during ideology classes doesn’t mean it won’t happen.

Please think before you speak.
Please think before you type
Your critique of the idea comes down to ‘typed it on phone’? .world needs to be defederated istf
Any human power can be resisted and changed by human beings.
It is entirely realistic. Money has existed for barely a fraction of humanity’s existence. It can disappear just as easily as it was adopted.
