Guess what Trump sucks too, but I’m sure we would want a heads up if another country was about to come “liberate us”. The soldiers signed up for this and at this point “just following orders” doesn’t exempt them from the risks of an illegal invasion of another country.
The alternative is Maduro would have broadcast knowledge of the upcoming attack and it would have been called off. No soldiers dead, US citizens aware of the attempt, and just a little more uncertainty inside the Trump administration. But we’ll never know.
Still, it’s hard for me to imagine what is playing out right is not significantly worse than any outcome from a leak. This has opened the floodgates for this administration to more boldly carry out additional invasion of other countries with little to no checks and balances in place.
