Nah it’s much more likely that they would abolish the impeachment mechanism long before it became too embarrassing.
Impeachment shouldn’t be taboo because it’s the only (intended) way to hold officials accountable. It’s been stigmatized by career politicians because it’s not in either party’s interest to get kicked out or put a target on their back.
Looking at the past century we should have had a huge chunk of representatives impeached for their parts in the USA’s shitty policies. Not all should have convicted but there was never any scrutiny beyond the newspapers.
