I suppose it’s the movie’s onus to be more entertaining than other options.

For me, it’s not my phone, it’s books, which I read on a tablet, but that’s beside the point. The point is, new movies are trash. I get past the first ten minutes in one out of twenty.

Fortunately, there are plenty of old movies, gems like Our Man in Havana, which I watched for the first time a couple of nights ago. It stars Obi-Wan Kenobi and Sam the Snowman.

I suppose it’s the movie’s onus to be more entertaining than other options.

I think the issue is that movies aren’t paced like videos on the internet. So if a movie slows down, it is tempting to just “scroll to the next video”.

Star Wars is a good example cause it starts super strong, but then slows way the hell down. If you pull out your phone the second it slows down, you are going to be taken out of the mood the movie wants you to be in. Then when it gets exciting again, you’re not going to be in it as much as you would be if you were in a theater watching it.

I have watched many movies and shows and got to the end and thought it was boring. I could tell you everything that happened, but could also tell you all the top posts on Reddit during the last 2 hours.
