Hellu!

A while back I made myself a tiny travelers journal from scrap leather, elastic sewing thread and glue! It’s roughly the size of a card-holder or small wallet. It’s not perfect, but it’s mine :) When I bring it out, I usually have one of those small IKEA pens with it!

It has the size of A7 but because I decided to have loose pages I mostly use them as A6. Neat huh?

I have two sections, one more private and one less private.

What’s yours smallest notebook?

oooh very neat! And nice paper, I used to have a notebook with that type of paper. It makes it so much easier to read on. I love that it fits in your wallet!

There are a lot of nice scrap-booking paper you could use, some even have structure. But they’re not very thick so you’d have to glue it to something sturdier :) The cardstock I have are from the cover of a regular notebook, that could work as well, but maybe not as fun.

A while back I saw a small second hand Filofax wallet similar to the image below, it feels a bit clumsy with the rings, but it makes me feel inspired to make something similar myself.

Thanks! The graph paper is from a notebook I never used because the paper itself felt too fancy haha. I’ve had it for too long and decided to make smaller ones just so I could actually use it. I also made two 5"x6.5" notebooks with it.

That wallet notebook you posted reminds me of the Mini 5 from Plotter.

You can probably turn that one into a wallet with inserts.

I was looking at origami paper for the notebook covers but in need to check the weight. My local craft store has an isle of scrapbooking paper so I’ll probably be able to find something that works.

This is the notebook that inspired my tiny one.

Is a Filofax a notebook brand, a notebook that has rings or a specific notebook method? Also I noticed that your notebooks are not bound with anything? They are loose and held in place by the band? I also like the cover paper you used for yours.

oh, the Mini 5 from Plotter is pretty too!

The notebooks for your inspiration are really pretty as well! I’ll look forward to see what nice papers you find, I hope you’ll post it here in Pen & Paper :)

Filofax is a brand, yes. But it has also become the name for a notebook/calendar with rings. Similar to how Lypsyl means lip balm (at least in Scandinavia). But Filofax is a ‘ring-bound system planner’. The style of notebook can also be called ring-bound planner, ring-bound notebook, ring-bound system notebook and so on.

A similar type of notebook are made with discs instead → https://photon.lemmy.world/post/lemmy.world/40458204

My notebooks are not bound, no. Only the piece of rubber-string is holding it in place, this is so I can use it as both A6 and A7 papers. But the A6 only works from the middle haha. I find A7 to be too small for most use-cases. So when I’m done with a page I move it to the back of the notebook for storage.

And thanks! The cover makes it much easier to write, the leather is way to soft to write on
