Internal Google documents, revealed in a recent child safety lawsuit, show the company viewed Chromebooks and its education tools as a way to onboard kids early creating “brand trust and loyalty over their lifetime.”

A 2020 presentation described schools as a pipeline for future users.

Google says the documents mischaracterize its work, which prioritizes helping students and teachers with strong privacy safeguards in school accounts.

      Yes, this has been very obvious. It’s also why iPhones are branded as a teen status symbol, and why all the tech companies are racing to set up free internet infrastructure and give away laptops and phones in developing countries. It’s also why almost all construction/farming equipment companies sell tiny/toy versions of their products for toddlers/children. Same with fast food restaurants and their toys for children. The list goes on and on.
