A former veteran Bethesda developer has cast doubt on the possibility of a Morrowind remaster in the same vein as the recently released Oblivion remaster, saying going back to play The Elder Scrolls 3 now, over 20 years after it came out, would make fans “cringe.”
I think if they did a ground-up remake/reimagining of Arena or Daggerfall, it could still be compelling. Not a simple remaster, though.
That being said, there is apparently a Unity port of Daggerfall that appears quite decent, and goes a long way towards modernizing an otherwise ancient game.
The Daggerfall remake is more of a source port…. But it’s amazing.
Daggerfall needs a certain degree of modding but the source port makes it super easy to install mods for it.
