SNW is a spinoff of Discovery. As someone who enjoyed both Picard and SNW, I think you will enjoy it. At the very least it will broaden the Star Trek universe for you. I suggest watching TOS unaired pilot (The Cage) or the two part episode “The Menagerie” before Discovery season 2 to (re)introduce Pike (and possibly Spock) to you and explain their back stories.
