I mean… it’s not really my job. But if you are just here to complain, I will indeed not respond anymore.

Yet you’re here bootlicking lazy and ineffective mods on a server that allows alt-right bullshit as if it is, so I guess it must be

Go ask the mods if they’ll pay your rent this month for defending hate on their shitty platform. I’m sure your landlord will take their IOU scribbled in crayon

Okay, enough personal attacks, next time I’ll ban you.

I’d have banned them half an hour ago LMAO.

I’d rather show that I’m open for a discussion about how we moderate.

Moderation is always going to be a tricky game. People assume that any comments that aren’t deleted are therefore validated by mods, even when they can cover extremes that are very far apart. With a topic like this, the extreme ends are probably going to be people at one end who think anyone who doesn’t confirm to a ‘traditional’ sexuality is some kind of abomination, and at the other end folk who think the people saying the ‘abomination’ shit shouldn’t be allowed to participate. It’s gonna be very hard to moderate that without pissing at least some people off. Like I say, a tricky game - but just because some people are unhappy doesn’t mean you’re doing it wrong.

Me, I’d say that unfortunately there are some extreme opinions out in the world and even when I don’t share them I don’t want to pretend they don’t exist. I’d rather have the opportunity to discuss them, dispute them, maybe try to change them. But open hate speech, threats, personal abuse, or advocacy of violence should be a definite no. Just IMO.

You need to relax. You are talking a lot about the proper way to moderate while actively breaking the rules in a community by being so hostile. Appreciate the irony of that for a second.

And for the record and my defense, before you accuse me of trying to defend the alt right or something, there are some shitty comments in this thread I wish would get removed. The jokes about sexual attraction to cookware are overdone, toxic, and annoying, and that is just the mild side of what was in this thread. The mods removing the outright hostility is a start, but letting gender and sexual minorities be the butt of the joke over and over is not a great way for a space to be

@[email protected] if you are reading this consider removing those jokes.

I feel like the jokes get downvoted, deleting it would not really help especially since it’s not against the rules to make bad jokes.

But I’ll forward it to another mod for reconsideration. Thank you for discussing this in a civil way.

If it was one I would agree with you. Several people saying it in several places in the thread though, reminds me of that “I identify as an attack helicopter”, which is more transphobic because of its being spammed by people with agendas than because of the explicit content. This seems like a similar, if less popular, kindof homophobic “meme”.

Okay, now you’re being a jerk against non-moderators. Go be angry at people somewhere else.
