Hi. I’m planning (mostly my partner is doing it but I’m helping see I’m posting something on Lemmy) to visit Scotland and I want to know, from real people, what are the tourist trap I can skip and which one I shouldn’t
And any other tips, suggestions or insults

I’m here to suggest Ayrshire! You can easily get to Glasgow and Edinburgh by train (or bus, but I think train is better) for day trips to visit the big cities and do some of the touristy stuff. Ayrshire is also perfect to visit Arran, which is an island described as Scotland in miniature. There’s castles, beaches and you can climb Goatfell which is a mountain (corbett). https://share.google/I7bwE07SKkyqiEtHo
Ayrshire is also Burns country, so if you are into poetry and history, you can visit Burns home and museum in Alloway. https://share.google/G1UTo9eAHqLBiGThVAlloway is also home to the beautiful Brig O’Doon which is featured in the poem Tam O’Shanter. Theres a hotel and restaurant there also. https://share.google/j80BK1ai1wXfL4QFe
Dumfries House in Auchinleck is owned by King Charles and has some beautiful gardens to walk around. You can visit the house and see some of the Chippendale furniture there too. There’s also a cafe to grab something to eat. https://dumfries-house.org.uk/
This is just a few suggestions but theres castles, beaches, golf and good links to other places. Theres even an airport!!!
Thanks a lot ! Will look into that
