The only comment on the article is “no shit sherlock” but honestly, is it a no shit point? We arent talking hollywood voice actors. I know there are bug bames who have done big games but were if were talking gaming accross the board there are tons of cases of really really really fuckin bad voice acting in games. Thats without considering some of the larger sized games all of which are victim to repetitive ncp lines. I absolutly have used mods for expanded dialogue generared by ai to spice games up and increase emmerssion. How many times you wanna hear a guard tell you about the arrow they took to the knee?
I get that but wasnt enough of my cup of tea to not be something id always fix with mods. Also, thanks for replying by not telling me tou cant imagine being as illiterate as me to think my opinion matters. Ima start vocally appreciating people who dont leave down right nasty replies because doenvoting the meanness doesnt sway the frequency it occurs to passive attempts towards discussion. I appreciate you being cordial😁👍
I mean I do think your stance is backwards on so many levels but yeah, I’ve been on the Internet enough to know that not everyone speaks English as a native language or something so grammar is eh. Doesn’t make ya dumb. Internet can be a nasty place for sure though. A little positivity probably is a good thing.
I’ll take mid or low tier voice acting over AI generated voices any day. I’d much rather listen to a poor voice actor doing their best than a robot voice that has the emotional depth of, well, a robot. Maybe it’s just me, but whenever I hear AI voices in a game it immediately takes me out of any kind of immersion. I’d honestly take no voice acting at all and have it be all text over AI voices. And for story related characters I’d find it near impossible to relate or empathize with a character that literally has no part of it that even resembles a real person. I can kinda see what you mean with no-name NPCs that have repeating voice lines, but in a big open world game what would the standards be to consider a character important enough to have human representation? If the dialog isn’t important and will be ignored most of the time, why do you even need it in the first place?
In Arc Raiders, all of the voice acting is AI generated and it sounds okay at best. It creates a problem that puts your main characters on par with the guards in Skyrim where most people ignore them. I played it with a friend of mine and ended up skipping 90% of any the dialog because I found it tedious to listen to.
Another thing i gave incountered yet is a game entirely generated by ai voiced. Totally out of place of me to have this discussion in athr3ad about a game with the main character and friends are ai. I knew this going into commenting but the point didnt really hit me till reading your comment of how different this would be from what ive experienced in games using mods to change a game by expanding their dialoge and how its actually ai expanding the dialog content for a voice that was originally supplied by ai or if generated by ai were always for added companions, npc or similar scenarios
Jeeeezus imagine being this fucking miserable and nasty to someone attempting dialogue of a subjective topic of discussion. What is wrong with you that you think this is a normal and appropriate response to the comment i made?

You call out the arrow to the knee line, and yet, how much entertainment have we all gotten out of memeing about it?
Yeah, I’ll take my games with bad human acting over more AI slop any day.

Definitely not something i considered really is the diifference the game itself plays into it. Im def guilty of playing only certain games/game type.
