Thinking about a conversation I was having with an acquaintance years ago. He was a friend of a friend and we were talking about food. I forget the exact phrasing but I brought up loving avocados. He said “what’s that?” I was a bit surprised and explained. He responded “OH thats crazy I thought that was one of those made up words”. While I was traveling with my mom, she was telling me about my uncle who is well off. Like we’re talking 10s of thousands of dollars. I always thought he was average like we are and very down to earth.
But, I then heard that having hundreds of dollars in his wallet at all times “isn’t enough” and that he is charging his own son to buy 1 of the 3 boats he has. Yeah, that completely changed how I saw my uncle.
