I’m a conservative. I don’t mind the liberal stuff here. It’s good to learn the other side, but I don’t want a liberal echo chamber. I’d like to be more politically balanced in the fediverse. Is there any way I can do that?

Provide an example of a moderate conservative view then.
Without dog whistles and nonsense like “small government” or whatever other labels conservatives like to pretend to have
It’s possible to economically liberal and socially conservative. Or the other way round.
Socially conservative just means being racist, and homophobic
I think that’s the extreme ideas of each other we have in our heads. Someone can be a liberal with christian values and consider themselves conservatives. They can practice tolerance and respect differences among people.
Conservatives don’t have spaces to chat online that aren’t full of bigots or people who automatically reject their values. I think these conservatives could be our ally, but they need their own spaces to talk.
Or the other way round. Socially liberally and economically conservative. The point is that you can average to moderate/centre.
This whole fascination with left and right politics is why America is so fucked.
Yeah, all those leftists in power, ruining the country.
Economically conservative isn’t even what the right does though. Being a “conservative” is 100% defined as being anti-woke and a culture warrior.
Nuclear family, individual freedoms, freedom of religion and expression
What does nuclear family mean in relation to being conservative. What is the associated policy.
Same with the rest. Those are just platitudes. They don’t actually mean anything or guide policy
Just try to listen since they are trying to tell you.
Its an idea that many conservative folks believe in. There is no policy. Policies can be different from country to country. This is an international instance, it is not limited to discussing only policies in the USA, it is also allowed to discuss ideas worldwide.
But there are policies.
“Nuclear family” sounds like you’re trying to say “traditional family”, so the policy would be banning gay marriage and infringing on their rights as citizens.
“Personal freedoms” is about the most vague stance you could claim for an ideology, but people on your side are banning books, censoring school ciricuculums and furthering the militarization of the police. I’m not sure how any of that amounts to more personal freedoms.
You say freedom of religion, but the policies associated with that stance are, again, discriminatory. We already have freedom of religion, conservatives are looking for their religion to dominate society, through legislation.
All of the ideals yoy listed hurt “personal freedoms” for anyone not belonging to conservative groups. There are policies associated with all of them despite your denial. They are oppressive and discriminatory.
What you seem to be referring to are problems you have with conservative policies in your country.
The same does not apply to conservative ideas from other cultures. The way most of the people here are assuming particular views to conservative people is heavily biased to their particular country, and usually is not accurate.
Conservative views tend to be consistent from country to country. Especially the ones you listed.
I used the values that you cited, so I trust that they are consistent with your culture. You can pretend whatever you want, but these are conservative values around the globe, and they’re all shitty.
