If you’re able to urinate after sex, especially PIV or topping anal sex, do it. It reduces the chances of urinary tract infections and yeast infections, as well as the spread of any STD one partner or the other may have. This is just good practice for health and safety.

As a dude that has had both at the same time, I wish I knew this earlier. Nowadays I’m so cautious about it that I opt for a shower immediately after as well. No waiting around.
Yes! I’ve heard this advice many times as a woman since our urethras are shorter so more prone to UTIs after sex, but men should try to pee as well. It’s good practice for all the genders!
I should make a post about this, and I should research it to confirm, but I heard that female urethras aren’t just shorter, but they’re smooth inside, whereas male ones twist on the inside so that the urine coats the whole thing as it goes through, which also reduces UTI risk.
I tried poking around for some more info and found this:

Didn’t have the time to thoroughly review it, but I think your answer might be in there :)
That’s a helluva lot of detail but I didn’t find any confirmation of what I thought. Maybe it’s a myth, I’ll have to look into it soon.
This is an especially good idea if you don’t know your partner very well.
