Employing U.S. President Donald Trump’s marquee slogan, Prime Minister Mark Carney told a New York City business crowd on Thursday that “Canada strong will help make America great again,” a remark the U.S. envoy to this country said was “worth repeating.”

Speaking at the Economic Club of New York, the prime minister detailed his economic diversification strategy, and his plans to recalibrate Canada’s relationships and reputation.

“We’re focused on what we can control, and that means weaving a dense web of international partnerships abroad. That’s making us a much stronger, more resilient, more independent country,” Carney told the business crowd.

Touting some key areas where the federal Liberals have made progress, Carney sought to make the case for why Canada and the U.S. should continue to co-operate in key sectors.

Dear Canada, Please don’t feel obligated to help the US be “great again.” Please protect yourself and don’t trust the US.

It’s strategic. Mango Mussolini doesn’t actually understand any of this, but if you repeat his nonsense back at him, he claps and leaves you alone for a while. Then you can do whatever you want while he’s distracted.

No one said their strategy was good, just that they were outsmarting Trump. That’s a dismally low bar.

He did. I hope he continues to, because the more he says it, the further it gets from reach. Like how he keeps saying “He’s very close to a deal with Iran”, no he’s not. And every time he runs his mouth it gets further and further away.

Now, is it a good idea to invite Palantir to our security apparatus? Absolutely not. Is it a good idea to sell our airports to JP Morgan? No. Does pushing draconian anti-privacy legislation that will drive out VPNs and secure software providers suggest Carney is a major problem? Absolutely. We should do something about that, but he IS keeping the twit in the White House occupied.

Always remember that the most perfidious way to undermine a good cause is by defending it with a bad argument. He is managing Trump, which is the primary reason people voted for him in the first place. We all need to keep a close eye on what he’s trying to slip by while our attention is elsewhere though. There’s more than one Cabal of snakes looking to subjugate us.

We are, but if we can convince US business people that it is their best interests to not attack Canada, that will also improve the state of things.

Even better if those business leaders can be convinced to use their (bought and paid for) influence within the US government to get that government to stop attacking Canada.
