A lot of the cost is in licencing the movies, as nowadays they try to get a perpetual licence so they don’t need to take it down from their site after x years. Many old episodes aren’t available any more because of licencing issues, as they were licensed for cable/TV broadcast, and maybe international broadcast, but probably not internet streaming distribution, as that wasn’t a thing at the time.
