Consider the position of mostly surrounded russian infantry being pressed by Ukrainian forces in a near last stand scenario for the russians.
What do they do when they see a browning M2 on tracks come around the corner?
It is a lose-lose situation for them, either they hold fire and hope the moving 50 cal hasn’t seen them (which is a terrifying prospect because at this range a M2 qualifies as an automatic light antitank weapon) or they shoot at it and at best disable a easily replacable machine while giving away their position to Ukrainian infantry who may be nearby.
Honestly Ukraine has created possibly the most effective combat engineering tool for clearing out heavily entrenched positions ever made with the UGV - Browning M2 combination.
Should we be surprised? I doubt the M2 will ever not be relevant, not for one hundred years or two at least.
Note that this kind of use of a 0.50 cal machine gun mounted to a UGV as opposed to a soldier directly behind a mounted M2 on a vehicle or static mount has direct health benefits to the machine gunners controlling the M2. There is an immense amount of evidence that the blast overpressure from being right next to a heavy weapon firing like an M2 can be damaging to your body and brain over time. Even if the machine gunner is in a bush 10 meters away instead of literally directly behind the gun the concussive impacts on the head are far reduced.
See this technology in that context as well as the “robots are scary” one.

Resistance is futile.
