What is the fucking point of selling Tierney if we’re gonna replace him. We would need to replace him even without Timber’s injury but like, what’s the actual fucking point of selling him unless he’s causing a fuss.

The same reason we sold Turner and replaced him with Raya: we need players who can cope with and enhance this system, not drag it down to their level.

Tierney treats the ball like a handgrenade too often.

And he comes across as a not very intelligent player.

One would think his quality would allow us to come out with a profit or at least without losing money, and with a player that can gel with the system better. Seems in practice we’re still struggling to find a good price for him but maybe Newcastle is about to change that.

That being said, it’s crazy to me that there is no room for a traditional LB like Tierney in this squad. Football tactics have gone so far out there at this point that before long Sam Allardyce is gonna come back and revolutionize the game with 4-4-2 hoofball and everybody is going to act like it’s never been seen before.

Honestly, I think Tierney can absolutely learn the inverting role anyway, and he already has been. He plays centre-back for Scotland, for fucks sake. Mans was our best player for a good while and you’re telling me he can’t even get a spot on the bench when our first choice is out? Make it make sense. He’s got a good mentality as well and clearly is eager to get his chance.
