If you’re referring to the current NYC protected bike lanes drama (the only thing I can find that references this, man remember when search engines worked??) it has less to do with the size of the firetrucks, and everything to do with expanding the distance between buildings and accessible roadways due to proposed parking expansion. Just basic FuckCars, plus last I checked those protected lanes are still getting built so that’s nice (a similar thing happened in portland though they ultimately just reduced the size of curbside parking and that was fine).
