I like him and most political organizations are corrupted. My dad was a green beret from Vietnam, my uncle was a marine from Vietnam (both democrats) so I know the reality of dealing with this type of trauma. I think he’s earned a chance and I think this character assassination is being funded by big money and quite obviously AIPAC. We need people to stand up to the Israeli lobby and the traitors they have infiltrated our government with and I think they are afraid. This whole psyop reminds me of when we were supposed to believe that Iran killed 30,000 protesters in two days without any evidence but we were also told to believe that only 70,000 people were killed in Gaza with three years of continuous carpet bombing and starvation. I don’t buy any of it and we need someone like him to go to Washington and stand up to all this corruption. I’m sick of this shit. Everyone is sick of this shit. Colins needs to go back to her crypt

That’s the thing here my friend, I don’t think voters are listening. It’s not AIPAC attacks that people like me don’t like: It’s the veteran thing. The reality is is that your uncle and father are likely grappling with witnessing and/or directly committed war crimes for America. My grandfather did in Korea as well and reading about our actions in Korea, I am very very disgusted at what my grandfather was doing there.

Your father and uncle should spend their time educating people on the horrors of US imperialism and directly addressing how they condemn their own actions in Vietnam. They should study how the US has spent not only billions of dollars but millions of lives fighting Communism and it’s made the world a worse place. Not only fighting against socialism but also fighting civilians to extract resources using violence, and my life and your life in America directly benefit from that. My grandpa who passed in 2010 and your father/uncle should (or should have) be doing that & not be running for office. Is that something that makes sense?

Also voting against a veteran because they are a veteran while supporting a status quo candidate who is giving our tax dollars to a colony currently committing multiple genocides, bribing politicians, and forcing us into wars serves imperialism as does the purity tests

I don’t think slandering someone who was also a victim of the system while the system continues to meat grind us all is helpful. Blaming fellow citizens for their trauma under the machine is super lame and not beneficial to the type of solidarity we need to put an end to this cycle. My dad and uncle are dead from Agent orange diseases. Dividing the left with these purity tests and not having the capacity to understand that it’s going to take a wide variety of people from all walks of life to combat the deep corruption that has rotted all of our institutions is counterproductive to a favorable outcome. Also, like it or not people who have actually seen the consequences of imperialism in person have a lot of wisdom to share.

They were the machine. Sorry. If you think they were oppressed in the “meat grinder”, you should see the meat grinder American soldiers put the Vietnamese and Koreans in

Also to discount veteran’s accomplishments completely on the left is completely ignorant of historical facts. Smedley Butler ring any bells? There have been American veterans on the flotilla, veterans have been protesting ice and veterans protesting were absolutely a part of ending the Vietnam war. Excluding all the veterans from the left is a ridiculous and self defeating prospect

I don’t think anyone is saying to exclude all veterans but if you joined the wheremacht whatever the reason you may have that is a giant minus that you should have to work through before you should reasonably be trusted.

I literally said before I’ve talked to plenty of anti war, anti imperialist Veterans and they don’t talk about the military the way Graham Platner does. That’s my whole point. The real ones do the work iykyk

It’s way more complicated than that because I’ve met Vietnamese people who regard American soldiers as heroes. You can sit from your position of privilege and what tell me they don’t know what they’re talking about? Two things can be true at the same time

And I’ve met American soldiers who regard themselves in the way I do, just because you have personal anecdotes about people doesn’t make the broader historical fact any less true.

You’re exactly why the left will always be divided. You’re an idiot

lol you made a stupid point so now I’m dividing the left? You can’t just use personal anecdotes to back up your claims. Vietnam is still socialist, too, btw. Despite our best efforts.
