    What sucks about stories like this is not only are the servers not getting paid, they’re actually losing money because of the alcohol sales.

    Why? Because in most restaurants that sell alcohol the server has to tip out the bartender a percentage of their drink sales. That $0 tip actually just took $5 away from the server.

      Yes but you’re forgetting that the rich Douchebags going to the world cup are deserving of being allowed to do that because checks notes “the employees they’re hurting work in the USA and therefore aren’t people because their government sucks and ours is so much better just don’t look behind the curtain or in the closet or under the rugs”

        Ah, you’re right. Disregard what I said. The servers should be grateful they have the privilege of losing money due to FIFA’s patrons.

      And without it, dishwashers, bussers, host staff who barely afford minimum living expenses wouldn’t be able to do that.

        I was talking about a sub-minimum wage earner tipping out another sub-minimum wage earner, but you’re absolutely right about the other staff. In fact it’s even worse with a sub-minimum wage earner paying out of pocket to the wage earner.
