    There are no details about what happened to her during these 4 years. I imagine it wasn’t great.

      Usually that means they didn’t want to be found. A rescue story usually says someone was arrested and they are reuniting the person with their family. They don’t mention any of that in this story.

        That tracks, if it was a kidnapping/sex trafficking it would have been mentioned as that makes headlines.

      Eh, you never know. Could have easily been an abusive home life where this disappearance was her escape. Could also have been a “ran away with an older boyfriend” thing, and they ended up breaking up this summer.

        That honestly seems the most likely given a lack of information about arrests or needed medical attention.

        She was 15 when she disappeared, not 5. That’s definitely old enough to actually make an informed decision to leave. If her home life was bad, not wanting anything to do with returning and actively avoiding any sort of situation that could result in that. It is entirely possible that running away from home was in fact the best option for her.
