      In many parts of the country it obviously never stopped being the case. We just tried to sweep it under the rug for a couple decades and pretend it wasn’t there, but now it’s started leaking out again.

        In literally all parts of the country. Ask actual POC what their experiences are of the places you think “moved on” and they’ll tell you they are some of the most racist places they’ve ever experienced. Boston in particular comes to mind.

          Portland Oregon likes to paint itself as progressive and accepting and they are, but Oregon had a ban on black people moving here until the 70s. There are still sundown towns in Oregon not 2 hours drive from Portland. It’s absolutely everywhere, even in the blue states.

      Not just racism, don’t sell them short. Bigotry from across the spectrum. Diverse bigotry, if you will.
