    It’s actually well documented that part of the appeal of religion is the psychological need for justice when it’s so clearly absent in the real world. It’s probably part of the reason Christianity spun off from Judaism when it became clear that the Jews weren’t going to get any sort of justice or revenge for their oppression by the Roman Empire. Christianity has a greater emphasis on the afterlife and otherworldly justice than Judaism does. Prior to that, the Hebrews were doing fairly well with their own kingdoms and a focus on prosperity in life rather than waiting for the afterlife was working out pretty well.

    Sorry for the tangent, I just think it’s really interesting.
