I’ve just been getting back into OSRS recently and Deadman Mode is totally new to me. Is it something that’s always running, like PVP worlds, or is it only active during certain time frames?
I believe there is always one active deadman world, but they do these tournaments yearly, where they open additional worlds all building up to the finale
You could, but no-one really plays it so you won’t be getting the same experience. If you want the constant anxiety of being killed, or the thrill of hunting others, the yearly deadman is your best option. The permanent world is just a private server with boosted xp rates.

Ok, so I could conceivably start a Deadman Mode account now and keep playing it after the finale. I just wouldn’t be competitive obviously
I believe so. Ive never played either, and it is possible the year-round world is different from the event worlds
