I’m having this issue on my front wheel, where the lever on my wheel’s axle, that locks it in place will pull the entire wheel (and thus the brake disc) so far to the side, that the brake disc hits the brake pad, even when the brake pad is at the most far position. How can I prevent my wheel from going to far to one side when turning the locking lever?

Thanks, this was very helpful. I am confident the hub is correct size. The brakes are indeed cable-activated, and when I tighten the quick-release wheel lever the wheel is pulled towards the moving brakepad. People have said that the lever is on quite tight, so I probably have deformed my forks/wheels or whatever. My brake disc doesn’t have any bolts that can be adjusted, it has that hub-mounted tightening system.

Edit: I will try mounting the wheel again and playing the brake pad adjusters, however I don’t think I’ll be able to get it perfect as I do think the disc is not perfectly aligned and I don’t have the tools to adjust that. Again, thanks for your reply!

When you say the lever is on tight do you mean that the lever is very hard to pull as if that is the case and the wheel is moving towards the brake pad that moves then it could be that you just need to loosen the cable off as essentially the brake may be permanently activated if that cable is too tight.

The disc itself won’t be adjustable but you must have adjustment points on the calipers as calipers are designed to go on numerous different bikes that may all have slightly different spacings so need to have a degree of adjustability to make them work properly. I’d suggest watching a quick you tube video on adjusting cable disc brakes as that may give you some insight on the parts you have and how you can adjust them.

      Good luck!

Just to clarify, every time I mention “lever” in this post/comments, I’m talking about the quick release lever on the wheel that finally tightens the axle. So no, I don’t think I have any issues with any cables right now
