It will look like lunacy and many won’t believe it, but the guys with the guns will uphold it as law. Then they’ll purge the capitol police, regular police and permanently federalise the national guard.

No, its much more about complacency. The whole world has always been suffering outside our protected bubble. “Starving kids in africa” and all that. People know damn well the suffering is spreading they just wont believe it can reach them until its biting at their heels.
