A new procurement record says ICE wants access to personal data, including names, Social Security numbers, and ethnicity, to investigate in part what the agency calls “voters fraud.” It also plans to use the data to investigate immigration fraud.
SSN’s aren’t something that are shared with others that often though. Mostly in banking/credit/medical/legal. Medical and gov probably isn’t allowed to sell that info, so it makes me wonder who is.
Considering the amount of identity fraud in the US, it amazes me that a data broker not only has the info, but is allowed to sell it.
How does Reuters have access to people’s social security numbers???
The USA doesn’t have laws against collecting people’s personal information. Companies have been quietly taking advantage of this for decades.
