Bungie's latest gamble isn't paying off, with Marathon struggling to attract players while questions continue to grow over the studio's long-term future.
I dreamed about that playing Halo as a kid, and it kinda blew my mind when I actually found it in Planetside 2. That game was like black magic, jank and all.
It doesn’t even exist in the market now. Well, Planetside is technically still there, I guess, but its a zombie, and it’s playerbase is just too old.
An extraction shooter though. Really? I have nothing against the format, but there are a bazillion of them. I guess that’s why, as much as I love Bungie, I barely even glanced at Marathon.
Ugh. A “Halo Planetside” would have been a money printing machine for MS, even if it was just mediocre. Maybe it was in dev hell though; we’ll probably never know.
I wish they made an MMOFPS.
A real MMOFPS.

Funny enough, if the rumors are true, there is work being done to make a Halo MMOFPS live service game with customizable characters.
I’ll believe it when I see it, but here’s hoping.
Edit: Actually, it looks like just this month Microsoft killed it with the restructuring and layoffs they just had. FML.
Tragic.
On par for 2026.
