I have mine on a smart plug to monitor it (Emporia). It uses about 3 kilowatts per week. For reference the whole house uses about 100 kwh per week. The cost to operate is similar to my dishwasher… bidet gets more uses but much shorter durations. The heating element must be really small because that’s not much power. It might vary between manufacturers tho.

How much does it draw under load? I ask because I’ve always wanted one of these, but I’m on solar and batteries so I have to monitor load and usage a bit more closely than most.

You don’t have to get an electric one either, lots just work off of existing water pressure. The heating is a nice but optional feature IMO

Oh yeah… not sure I’d handle a blast of cold water first thing in the morning very well though

see, that’s the thing - if it’s first thing, your cold water pipes will be room temp because they’ve been sitting there all night.

obvs dependent on usage throughout the night and who else uses it in the morning, but at least in my house, it takes some time for me to get actually cold water upstairs in the morning

I got one that has a hot and cold water hookup, so no electrical connection needed.

The fear and shock of unholy caress is better than caffeine in the morning. Seriously though, you get used to it.
