He could have easily done it without, but he didn’t. He chose to film this way for a reason. You can call him pretentious and that’s fine, he might agree with you, but he still had artistic reasons to do so.
It’s ok if you personally don’t appreciate it. But other people DO appreciate it.
So even the few people that could see the whole screen don’t care? I don’t even have the option in this country.
