America will do absolutely anything, except ban guns, to “deal” with gun violence and the solution is usually one someone can profit off of.

Clear bags are shit and fall apart fairly easily requiring regular replacement. Retailers make more by selling the same bag to you multiple times over selling one solid Jansport bag (the old ones before they were remade to be shit).

Selling metal detectors and wands and making kids show up earlier to wait in long lines.

Offering subscription services to emergency apps such as Raptor to send emergency alerts to staff and police. Which I’ve been told in a real emergency wasn’t worth a damn.

Pushing Kevlar wall panels, bullet proof glass, and hold up buttons for reception desks at the entrance.

Selling AI cameras to identify guns such as Bosch, and Avigilon, or gunshot detection systems like Go To Green to direct people away from gunshots.

Emergency lockdown kits for special classroom doors, Panic buttons in every classroom.

Hallways designed around “reduced sight lines” and secured vestibules with access control systems added to every school.

I can keep going on, I’ve seen literally all of this in K-12 education. It all drives up the cost of projects and keeps money flowing into corporate pockets and everyone wants a piece of the pie.

Go to green would be a great solution if it were made for fire/disaster evacuation, sensors around the building could map where the safe exits are and direct people away from exits blocked by fire/smoke/debris.
