Oh, I think you’re right. I read using a big net to stop them meaning surrounding the thing you’re defending with a net. I guess they meant firing one. The reason for that is pretty simple: drag. A big net would have a ton of drag, so it wouldn’t fly far. You could have a missile that ejects a net to catch a target, but nets also weigh a lot and you could instead have a bunch of pellets, fragmentation, or something. There are uses for nets, like the drone video in the OP, but they have some serious limitations too.
