The whole point is that he’s the friendly neighborhood spider-man, part of the appeal of that is that he could be anyone. Yeah, we the audience know Peter Parker, but the world doesn’t know him and that’s a large part of his story’s appeal.

No, you misunderstand. Most superheroes wear masks so they aren’t personally identifiable. But most leave some amount of the skin still exposed. You can’t imagine wolverine is black or batman latino with their white ass chins poking you in the face.
