Under law, they are considered combatants, so I am not sure what your point is.

Most people in the Military of either side of a conflict are not there by choice, but by limited options and circumstances.

If they had the option of joining a WPA style public works program instead, they would.

I don’t care about excuses. Limited options and circonstances do not the change the fact they either went to kill or assist the killers in killing the iranians civilians so yes every injured or dead soldiers man more chance to save iranians civlians. You would never said this bullshit if it was about an isis terrorist getting killed or injured

To the contrary. I have stated many times that fighters are also compelled by circumstance to join extremist movements in Yemen, Palastine, Afganistan, Iraq, Syria etc to commit or support committing of war crimes.

If you are a young orphan boy in Sudan, you basically have 2 choices to survive. Become an immigrant in another country or join the life of violence and become a pirate, gang member or religious extremist.

Its the plight of the downtrodden in all countries with significant wealth inequality. So long a power is concentrated in Presidents, Mullahs, Priests, dictators and oligarchs, they will get the downtrodden to commit crimes on their behalf.

Very few conflicts are just and even fewer remain so after enough time.

I am talking about isis. All rhe group you mention are product of colonization and occupation. Sudan is a civil war yes they are tuely have no choice. Don’t compare that with american soldiers
