I find I often have direct, simple, pointed questions regarding the content of Madthumbs’ posts. But he bans everyone who asks questions in his community, so I can’t very well ask my questions in the obvious place (in the thread that brought up the question). So if I’m to ask him such questions, I’ll have to ask somewhere else. Somewhere like here.
This thread is for anyone who has a question for Madthumbs. Theoretically, we could just make a whole post every time we have questions for him, but I figured in the interest of keeping the Linuxsucks Sucks community tidy, it might make sense to keep them to one thread.
So! If you have a question for Madthumbs, just @ him here and ask your question. I don’t have any control over Madthumbs, so who knows if he’ll answer. But there’s only one way to find out.
I’m kindof thinking of this thread being mostly for direct questions with factual answers, not for long debates or anything. Probably best to keep it to that, I’m thinking. But then again, I’m not your dad. (Or Madthmbs’.)

Opengl and vulkan have been driven by an open committee for a very long time too. Glide was completely proprietary and failed miserably. Same as a lot of the s3 stuff.
Metal is proprietary to Apple, and fairly sure a lot of developers still prioritize vulkan or use wrappers that hide metal, and gaming on Apple is mostly limited to shitty mobile games
VR sucks on MacOS too. So, Apples strategy isn’t playing out that well long term imho. Nobody is likely actively trying to licence metal for other OSs
