I am not a fan of Alito, to be honest. I think he suffers from the same issue that many of the liberal judges do. They already know their stance, and the law or constitution won’t sway their opinion.
That is why people dislike Barrett so much; she actually forms her opinion based on the law, constitution, and precedent.
Better the old ones stay on, than give Trump another chance to appoint a young one.
