      ha! Wasn’t that a thing in used book stores or something? I seem to remember that there was a reason covers were torn off back on the old days or something.

        If a book doesn’t sell, you can rip the cover off as proof the book was destroyed because it’s a lot easier to ship back a stack of covers than complete books.

        The unscrupulous trick is to rip the covers off to get a refund, then sell them at a discount as damaged.
