Yeah, SzPD has a reputation for being super rare, but my theory is that it’s not as rare as people think.
I think SzPD’s reputation for being rare among those seeking therapy is well deserved, but I think it’s probably more prevalent in the general population than is estimated.
Definitely not trying to influence your self-diagnoses or anything, but yeah.
(Also, I suppose I should mention that SzPD and autism present very similarly and if SzPD seems to fit you, it might be worth checking whether autism fits you better or worse. That said, I do think I’m much better described by SzPD than autism and SzPD is probably much more often misdiagnosed as autism than the other way around.)
Not the same thing. Schizoid personality disorder (a.k.a. SzPD) is very different from schizophrenia.
