To make this easy you can do an instance block at Settings > Block Tab > Scroll to bottom > Input “lemmy.ml” and apply

It depends on what the software does, and how well reviewed it was. A lot of cases I’d say yes, but if it was (as an example) a personal therapist app I’d be pretty suspicious of it.
