This was DeNiro’s first comedy, which opened the door for later roles such as in Meet the Fokkers.
The chemistry between Robert DeNiro and Charles Grodin was the main draw. I liked Grodin, but his acting was never great IMO. But, the two worked together so well, I actually watched the whole movie without skipping ahead, which is unusual for me these days.

Some movies have a lot of fluff, they could really be a 45 minute tv show, but they filled it out to movie length. However, the story is still interesting enough that I want to see the end, so I skip past the fluff, instead of just shutting it off. Most movies I start, I end up shutting off in inside the first 30 minutes. I’m very hard to please, I guess? Yet another reason I don’t go to the theater anymore. I found I was walking out on movies too often, which is a waste of money.
This movie is mostly meat, and I couldn’t predict the end, so I’m wasn’t compelled to skip any parts.
Right on, I just can’t do it. Never know when a juicy bit is gonna come by.
