He 100% earns a place in that ring of honor, but the difference that stands out is that Bob/Fred were the drivers/content of their efforts, where Levar was an actor, cast as host of a show. There is probably a quiet, nameless driving force behind Reading Rainbow that doesn’t get the credit they deserve.
Again though, he’s a very important figure in my own development and the development of so many kids. That’s probably the difference felt though?
Fair, just mostly pointing out, he does continue to still does drive the effort. He’s lead revivals for it and helped keep it going. He was an actor but also an executive producer on it so he definitely had a pretty big role.
But for what you wanted: The idea did start with Dr. Twila C. Liggett.
That is my point then, while he is critical to the show’s success, he is different from the others in that they were the creators and stars. He’s not less, but that is the difference.
The creators of RR are a larger group, as credited;
Cecily Truett Lancit
Larry Lancit
Twila Liggett
Lynne Ganek
Tony Buttino
So not only is Levar not the only credited creator (as is the case with the others) by he is not included in the large collaborative list.
So that’s what I think, but you don’t have to take, my word for it…

Does he still regularly do like banned book drives and shit like that to help promote reading?
Still doing his part, even if he was “just an actor”
Don’t try to misrepresent the sentiment of my message?
