This is a slippery slope. Preaching that people should be killed is a far cry from saying you don’t view someone’s actions as being moral.
With 8 billion people in the world and tens of thousands of different cultures, ethnicities, religions, and regional histories that often feel in direct conflict about things both sides find to be important to who they are everyone is never going to see everything in the same light.
Telling everyone that they can’t share opinions or truths that any other might find offensive would effectively silence all speech and communication. Worse it would push those dislikes into dark corners where they’re shared only with those who agree and they can feather and become rabid.
Society needs to find a balance where all people are free to express themselves openly as long as they’re not trying to physically harm others.
It means that we all need to understand and accept that not everyone will like us or support the things we see as a normal part of our lives, and that’s alright. They don’t need to. They can say they don’t. They should be allowed that freedom of expressing their honest views.
It’s the preaching and condoning of actual harm is the problem and the line. People online will be very displeased to hear that because many like to equate speaking out about a thing to trying to kill any people who do it are that thing.
They are not the same thing. You have every right to not like me or be honest that my life doesn’t match up with your own personal values and mores. You do not have the right to say that means I should be persecuted or killed. There is a distinction between those things, and we all need to know it and keep it in mind.
